Organic & Modern Family-Friendly Nashville Interior Design Reveal
Greetings from Tennessee, cuties! I am beyond excited to share a very special Nashville interior design project with you all! In the fall of 2022, my Interior Design Team and I had the pleasure of working with a Nashville-based client—the oh-so-lovely Jenna—on designing several rooms in her new-build home. It was truly a dream project.
Jenna is a mom of two young daughters—ages 4 and 6—and she and her husband moved from Chicago to the Nashville area 18 months ago; they were able to actually build this house themselves and were excited to take on the interior design aspect to really make it feel like home.
“When it came time for furniture and decor, Jenna knew she loved the modern farmhouse look, and wanted a neutral color palette accented with pops of green and plenty of organic textures and silhouettes. Plus, fabrics and furnishings needed to be child-friendly without sacrificing style.”
I’m thrilled with how this space came together with some of my favorite pieces from our assortment here at KKH. Read on to hear from Jenna about what she loves most about living in Nashville and about her new home, how we worked with her to make this space sing, and her personal favorite furniture picks.
Hi Jenna! Welcome to the Kuotes! Tell us a bit about what you love about your property and the surrounding area in Tennessee.
We have lived in our home for a little over a year. We moved to the area 18 months ago from Chicago and could not be happier. We were able to build our home, which was such a fun process. I really enjoyed the design process and could not be happier with how everything turned out.
We love our neighborhood. The area is so beautiful—we love all the green and nature trails around us. We love how family friendly the area is as well. It has been the easiest transition for our family.
When it comes to interior design, what colors, textures, and trends are you naturally drawn to?
I would say my style is modern farmhouse. I love organic textures, neutral colors, pops of green that really bring in a natural component. I also love incorporating antiques and vintage items in a modern way as well. The Nashville area has endless antique shops, which I have so much fun hunting for my next find at.
Nashville Interior Design Reveal: The Living Room
As a fellow mama, I always love working with clients who have children. How did the needs of your two young daughters factor into the interior design of your home?
When thinking about designing our home I really did not want to compromise style, but had to be realistic with how items would function and weather young kids. We picked all performance fabrics and materials that could easily be cleaned over and over.
“I always want my kids and friends to be comfortable to really use the house, so I picked pieces I would not be so stressed over.”
Ultimately, do you feel like your home’s interior design is a reflection of you and your family?
I really do! I think our home is modern and very comfortable. It has been exciting to see that you can really showcase a styled curated look, while also having it be very kid-friendly. I used to think it was not worth having nicer stylish pieces while our kids are young and that we would have to wait, but it has been so fun to pick pieces I love, but also work really well for our young family.
What are you most looking forward to doing in your newly designed space in the year to come?
I am most excited to entertain and enjoy the space with my family and friends. We are so comfortable and proud of the space we created and are just excited to share it and make so many memories. We had the best time decorating for the holidays and are really looking forward to doing that again.
Nashville Interior Design Reveal: The Dining Room & Kitchen
When you first connected with the Kathy Kuo Home Interior Design Team, what were some of the goals you had for this project? Were there any particular pieces that stood out as favorites?
My goal was to pick pieces that were cohesive and kid-friendly. I did have ideas of specific pieces I loved and for sure wanted to incorporate after browsing your website.
“I love the arched black book case we have in our living room. It is so beautiful and has been such a great solution to showcasing some of our favorite pictures and art.”
I also love our wood dining table, I love the uniqueness of the oval shape and how comfortable it is for family meals. I also really love the two chairs in our primary bedroom in front of our bed. They adds such a cozy element to our room and my husband and I love sitting in them to chat and relax.
Now that the interior design project is complete, do you have a favorite room in the home?
I love our primary bedroom! It feels so luxurious and is such a retreat. I constantly feel like I am in a beautiful, cozy hotel room!
