Luxurious, Modern & Organic Downtown Manhattan Interior Design Reveal

Hi cuties! I am thrilled to end the summer of 2023 on a major high note with our latest KKH reveal: A gorgeous downtown Manhattan interior design project rendered in warm neutrals with pops of organic greens and plenty of sophisticated metallic and stone accents.

We worked with an incredible client on her dining room, living room, primary bedroom, and home office in a breathtaking newly renovated lower Manhattan building. This apartment was seriously the stuff of dreams—so much light and space, and fantastic views of New York City to boot!

We incorporated performance fabrics and rugs throughout the space to ensure the home was child-friendly for our client’s young son, and also made sure to strike the perfect balance of polished and livable—the result was modern transitional with organic accent pieces and vintage items placed throughout to encompass the personalities of our client and her family.

The Dining Room

I don’t usually like to choose favorites but this dining space came together in a really beautiful and unexpected way—thanks especially to all of the eye-catching contrasting elements when it came to colors and textures.

The verdant bursts of green throughout the dining area were intentional as a visual through-line to the living room in this airy loft-like home (more on that below) because that sense of effortless cohesion was very important to our client. She also wanted the color palette of the dining room to complement her gorgeous commissioned paintings by the artist Josh Young.

Finally, for our styled shoot in the space, my team and I dressed the table with a jaunty assortment of green, ivory, and gold tableware for a look that both spoke to the grand beauty of this home, but also that felt easy enough for any of our Kuotes readers to recreate at home for an end-of-summer soiree!

I made sure to match the color palette! Love this dress? Shop this style now from my friends at Sue Sartor.

The Living Room

Working with this expansive living room—which had the benefit of flowing airily into the dining area—was an interior designer’s dream come true. What can I say? This apartment even had plenty of room for our client’s fabulous grand piano (as regular Kuotes readers know, piano is a true passion of mine so it’s always a treat when a client shares this musical sensibility).

In addition to the sprinkles of green that echoed the dining room, we also kept the look cohesive by continuing to mix and match textures and materials. I love the way the burl wood coffee table contrasts with the subtle woven texture of the rug, and how there’s an effortless mix of sculptural, geometric, and modern classic in the decorative objects and pillows

Nothing chicer than wearing the perfect pair of white pants on the perfect white sofa! Shop my fave skinny jeans now from Tuckernuck!

The Primary Bedroom

You know when people say they want their bedroom to be a sanctuary? Well, I’m pretty sure this is what they mean! I truly can’t say enough about how in love I am with this dreamy bedroom and how the design turned out.

Our client’s major must-haves for the bedroom were a canopy bed (again, as with the piano, I really felt like she and I were kindred spirits) and an extra seating area that could tie in her existing heirloom accent chairs. She also wanted matching nightstands that paired well with her black lacquered vintage dresser.

Finally, the luxe look of this bedroom really came together in the details—like the subtly statement-making Visual Comfort chandelier, two additional Josh Young paintings, and a sweet mix of personal touches atop the nightstands.

The Home Office

The final room in this lovely apartment is a fun one: A super chic and feminine home office! Our client owns and operates a successful wedding planning business and she knew she wanted this office space to reflect all the joy and beautiful details that are part and parcel of her work.

My design team and I set the foundation of this design with a mesmerizing wall art triptych, a super-chic Zoe Bios wall art piece, and subtly textured grasscloth wallpaper. We brought in practical office chairs that matched the decor but weren’t too formal, and were also easy enough to rearrange into different configurations if needed.

And of course, we worked with our client on finding a great burl wood desk and a stylish bookcase for storage that complemented the desk but didn’t read as matchy-matchy.
