Happy September, cuties! Though it’s supposedly time to welcome Fall, it’s currently in the 90s here in NYC…so I’m mentally still in a beachy, Hamptons-inspired state of mind as a try to stay cool. And that’s the perfect segue for me to introduce you to our September 2023 Trade Member Spotlight—meet Brianna Untener, the founder and principal designer of Brianna Scott Interiors and prepare to swoon over her recent design project for the annual Holiday House Hamptons showcase (and PS: click HERE to see out HHH design from 2022).

Brianna Scott Interiors is based in NYC and works primarily in the City and surrounding Tristate area, (though the company also happily works with on clients nationwide). Inspired by travel, architecture, and fashion, Brianna specializes in “creating curated spaces to authentically tell the story of a client’s individual style and identity.”
And when she’s not out East making show-house magic, or working with a client in NYC, Brianna loves to spend time by the beach with her friends, family, and dog (a woman after my own heart!). Read on to learn more about her Holiday House project, her design philosophies, and more!

Tell our readers about your business—what are your specialities and core offerings?
Brianna Scott Interiors is a full service interior architecture studio specializing in luxury residential construction projects as well as curating chic interiors for aspirational lifestyles. Our cohesive approach creates intentionally authentic homes true to each individual client.
My background includes managing multi-million dollar commercial and residential projects, coordinating with trades and bringing clients visions to life. With an impeccable eye for detail and a passion for creativity, we are committed to delivering unique and inspiring spaces.
Tell us about the project in the beautiful photos here from the 2023 Holiday House showcase!
I recently participated in my first show-house with many other top designers in the industry. It was a ton of fun to be a part of and I really enjoyed getting to create an out of the box space.
“This space is not your typical Hamptons bedroom. It is bold and edgy, yet soft and sexy. Inspired by a hot summer, this space will cool you off after a long day in the summer heat.”
I pushed the boundaries and drew attention with a custom bed, rope feature, window treatments, and art to make a statement. It is edgy and thoughtful. It’s where NYC meets the Hamptons.
Do you have a favorite interior design style to work with on projects?
My favorite interior design style to work with is soft contemporary. I love creating a space that feels elevated and current, but soft enough where you’re happy to live in it. I love getting to infuse my style with the clients so no one project is the same.
How would you describe the style of your own home? What’s your favorite piece of furniture or decor that you own?
I would describe the style of my home to be soft contemporary with a little European flair. It’s always hard to pick a favorite, but I’d have to say one of my favorites is a vintage chair with a black stained wood frame and boucle upholstery. I love unique pieces that not only have their own story, but that add to the one you’re creating.
Are there any design trends you see on the horizon for the season to come?
I think earth tones will continue trending, especially greens and browns.
What have been some of the biggest joys and challenges you’ve faced in your career in the design industry?
Some of my biggest joys are the relationships I’ve made with clients and having the honor to design a beautiful home they love that represents them. There’s nothing greater than seeing a client’s story visually come to life.
What advice would you give someone who wants to work with an interior designer on their home, but they feel intimidated or hesitant? For someone who’s never worked with a designer, what’s the major upside?
Partnering with a great designer that you enjoy working with can create amazing results. The major upside of working with a designer is that we take care of all of the details for you. We do the heavy lifting, creating a visual story that represents you, while you enjoy the process without the stress of it.
Speaking to fellow design pros: what advice do you have about working a challenging client or overcoming unforeseen obstacles on a design project?
With all design projects, especially when doing construction, there’s always a challenge. When I face a challenge on a project, I always try to pause and not immediately react. There’s always a solution, you just need to think about the best way to handle it with a clear mind.
