Home Tour: Kathy Kuo's Chic & Inviting Living Room
Hi cuties! I hope everyone is having an incredible spring season so far. I been have super-busy lately with work, my kiddos, planning summer travel, and getting everything ready for the upcoming season at KKH Southampton, but don’t worry…I always have time for my Kuotes cuties…which brings me to this week’s post: A super-fun video tour of my living room!

Family-Friendly Meets Luxe Living
My living room space is the soul of my apartment, and I’ve had so much fun designing it and setting the perfect mood–I love that it feels cozy and inviting but also very chic and curated. I can have dance parties with my kids just as easily as I can host friends for cocktail hour.
The key to creating a space that works on multiple levels like this is to choose anchor furniture pieces–sofas, coffee tables, accent chairs, side tables–that are versatile, durable, and comfortable. If you know your big items are going to be able to stand the test of time, and work for your children and pets, then designing around them (and rearranging and refreshing every now and then) is a breeze!
All in the (Styling) Details
One easy way to use small details to make a BIG design impact is to look at every surface as a styling opportunity. You know from my recent video post that I definitely do not sleep on coffee table styling (click HERE to check that out), and the same goes for my mantel, my etagere shelves, and my side tables.
When in doubt, a well-placed coffee table book or carefully framed photo is always in style, and if you want to take your surface styling game to the next level, I love the grouping rule of: One horizontal item, one vertical item, and one sculptural item. Instant sophistication!
