How to Embrace #SpookySeasOn In The Most Luxurious Way
Happy October, cuties! Is it just me, or did we all go to bed on the night of September 30 and wake up to pumpkins and cobwebs on literally every single surface as far as the eye can see? It’s officially #SpookySeason. I won’t lie–Halloween is not usually my favorite holiday (unpopular opinion, I know–please don’t cast a spell on me!).
For me, October is more about getting glam to celebrate my birthday later this month (stay tuned–we just might have some birthday magic in store for our KKH shoppers) than donning a costume for All Hallow’s Eve. That said, as a mom of two young children, I understand that the holiday can be a blast for little ones.
And lately, I’ve been coming around to the idea of embracing an upscale version of Halloween decor. I will admit that I do love to browse in spooky shops like Creel & Gow on the Upper East Side of NYC and Deyrolle in Paris.

The easiest way to set the mood for your next low-key seance or tarot card cocktail party? Candlelight! Whether you like a scented candle or classic unscented tapers in seasonal candle holders, lighting a few choice candles–perhaps from Baobab or L’Objet, my personal faves–instantly transforms your space into a spooky-chic parlor or boudoir. Don’t forget to coordinate with designer candle accessories—matches, wick cutters, and snuffers–for the full effect.
And guess what? As soon as the clock strikes midnight on October 31 and we flip the calendar to November…many of those same candles can easily make the transition from sorceress to Santa and become warm and cozy lighting for the holiday season!

From Sabrina the Teenage Witch, to the Sanderson Sisters, to GoT’s Melisandre–Luxe Witches throughout pop culture history have always had a solid appreciation for the wonders of the natural world. When we’re talking about translating that sentiment into interior design, it means crystals and florals galore, and plenty of natural materials.
Whether or not you are a true believer in the power of crystals to energize, heal, and inspire, they certain make for a dazzling visual statement when used as a decorative accent or as a detail in a statement light fixture. The same goes for gems, woven materials, reclaimed wood, and slightly-spooky dried flowers.
Honestly, when it comes to living the supernatural-chic Luxe Witch lifestyle this fall, just ask yourself: “What would Gwyneth Paltrow do?”
Go for the Gourd with Seasonal Accents
I couldn’t give you a Halloween-inspired decor guide without giving a nod to the humble pumpkin! Just like millions of Starbucks customers have said “yes” to pumpkin spice (and everything nice), Team KKH does indeed endorse a well-placed gourd or two when it comes to autumnal decor.
I would advise that you create styled groupings of decorative pumpkins and pair them with subtle decor accents like burnished aluminum candle holders, rustic wooden bowls, and seasonal dishware (I am obsessed with all things Staub!).
